DESCRIPTIONWW2 Italian Army Map. This military map is one of a series printed during WW2 for use by Italian forces for the invasion of Egypt (Operazione E) and throughout their campaign in North Africa.
The maps in this series, were essentially stolen data copied directly from other nations maps of the area, this was mainly British maps, from early and outdated series such as the 1918 and 1930 war office surveys.
The addition of Riservata (mod. 12) to the top corner is the only difference between the "new" Italian army maps, and the earlier British map that it is copied from.
This particular map was "liberated" by a british soldier at Bardia Libya in January 1941
The map is original, over 70 years old and as such will have the minor blemishes consistent with its age, such as foxing and wear which can be seen in the images.
